The Old Church
Our photo shows Doris Pitts, the eldest resident of Clophill Village at 98 ½ years young, with our trustee Richard Hudson, on her second trip to the old church since consolidation work started. Previously, she had not been for thirty years due to anti-social behaviour. Doris is full of support for the church work and said she would like to get a cup of tea and some cake at the Eco Lodges for her 99th birthday… we will certainly be happy to do better than that for her!
Thank you to all the volunteers for helping with the Teddy Bear launch on the 5th July. This was a joint event with Clophill Lower School and CHT. There were five launches with over 20 bears in each… a great start to a new family event… especially on a wet, cold day. The teddy bears arrived big and small. One had to be winched up the tower on its own as it couldn’t fit into the launch bag… it was full grown adult size!! and needed an especially big teddy bear parachute. Well done to Josh Stevens for assisting ‘Harry’ bear in flying within 8.2m of the target… quite an achievement with the gusts! We hope you enjoyed the winning prize.
[No bears were hurt in the staging of this exercise].
The Eco Lodges
A local donation provided the purchase of wild flower and grass seed for the top soil laid around the Eco lodges earlier in the year and a colourful display was on show over the summer months, some of which is still apparent. Vigorous weeding was required to ensure the desirable species were able to set seed. Thanks to the volunteers who helped.
