Come and have a go at Traditional Stone Carving….
August 19th & September 2nd 2018
Clophill Heritage Trust are restoring the sandstone wall that borders the churchyard of Old St Mary’s Church, a scheduled ancient monument. We plan to restore the wall using heritage building skills to ensure it is historically accurate, and create a ‘stepping stone’ path leading to the end of the restored wall where beds geology group are creating a geology interpretation section.
Three lucky winners of our poetry competition will have their poems carved into the stones making up the pathway to the new wall, and a fantastic local stone mason is going to be creating the main sign, and this is where you come in……
NOW FULLY BOOKED
We have limited places for people to come and have a go at carving one letter of the main sign for us (under the supervision of a master mason).
It is a free event and we will have our cafe open serving delicious homemade cakes as well as teas, coffees and soft drinks.
Each carving slot is 30mins, when you register you will be sent a sheet of available times to select one.
